The Frames were founded in 1990 by Glen Hansard (associated with the music duo The Swell Season that gained recognition from the movie Once.) They're live shows have been said to be euphoric, full of anger, power, and beautiful sensitivity all at once. Recoil was born in 1986 as a two-track experimental EP, and was followed by an album Hydrology in 1988. The project, started by Depeche Mode's Alan Wilder, quickly grew to become one of the most pioneering projects to emerge into the world of sampling technology.
Soon after recording the most successful Depeche Mode album to date - ‘Violator’ - he returned to the Recoil project for his next album,‘Bloodline, in 1991. Guest vocalists were recruited, helping to produce an album that demonstrated his ability to concoct slow-burning soundscapes drenched in drowsy paranoia. Long story short, Recoil put out two more albums throughout the years, gaining accolades worldwide and gleaning from a diverse catalog of guests. Alan is on a special tour right now with his newest album, Selected, which is a compilation of his favorite Recoil songs, arranged to provide a complete listening experience. The tour ncludes Europe, South America, and selected parts of the U.S. and he is with us tonight, first at the SW 9th Ave Jackpot Records for a special in-store meet & greet event from 5-6PM. They have completed their first worldwide tour with all dates selling out and for the remainder of 2010, the siblings will be travelling around the world for festivals and their second worldwide tour.
